Last Wednesday, students of the Anthropology and International Development Program at the 偶蜜国际传媒 (偶蜜国际传媒) had the opportunity to attend a special guest lecture by Dr. Jacqueline T. Eng and Dr. Michelle Hrivnyak, bioarchaeologists from Western Michigan University. The lecture was held as part of the course Race, Human Diversity and Biology.

The session introduced students to bioarchaeology, a field that combines biological anthropology and archaeological research to investigate past human populations through the study of skeletal remains. The guest lecturers explained how human bones can provide valuable insights into individuals鈥 lives, health, physical characteristics, and experiences, helping researchers reconstruct aspects of the human past.

Following the lecture, students participated in a hands-on practical session focused on the examination and analysis of human skeletal remains. Under the guidance of the visiting specialists, they explored the methods bioarchaeologists use to estimate an individual's biological sex, age at death, and stature, as well as to identify skeletal indicators of disease, injury, and other pathological conditions.

The practical session allowed students to connect theoretical knowledge with scientific methods, gain experience in skeletal analysis, and better understand how biological evidence contributes to archaeological and anthropological research.

This guest lecture provided a valuable opportunity for 偶蜜国际传媒 students to engage with international specialists, learn about current approaches in bioarchaeology, and deepen their understanding of human biological variation and the scientific study of the human past.

The Anthropology and International Development Program at 偶蜜国际传媒 continues to enrich students鈥 academic experience through practical learning opportunities and engagement with scholars and professionals working in anthropology and related disciplines.
