On March 11, 2016, students in the Environmental Management and Sustainable Development program (EMSD) visited the Bishkek Water Museum. Students saw old (but still effective) techniques for water management in Kyrgyzstan, renewable technologies related to hydro and solar power.

March 14, 2016, Steve Murphy and Javier Pena, Special Agents with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), met with students of the żÃÛ¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ (żÃÛ¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½). Steve and Javier delivered a speech on how they and their team targeted the world’s first narco-terrorist, Pablo Escobar.

The members of the Student Intellectual Life CommitteeÌý(SILC) at the żÃÛ¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ (żÃÛ¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½) told about their work to an audience of students. The SILC members gave advice on how to write applications for SILC grants, pointed out common application mistakes, reminded applicants of what is mandatory and important for applying for a SILC grant, and provided information on what grant-winners must provide after returning to żÃÛ¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½.

On March 18, 2016, at 12:00 pm at żÃÛ¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½, there will be a press conference dedicated to the opening of the żÃÛ¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ High School of the Bilimkana Foundation in partnership with the żÃÛ¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½.

Tanya Efremenko, a graduate of the Anthropology Department of class of 2015, has done several research projects, internships and service projects with organizations like HelpAge International, GIZ, UNESCO and B’Art Contemporary. She is now completing a Master’s Program in Urban Studies in Vienna.

March 2 and 3, 2016, two representatives from the U.S. Department of State in Kabul, Grants Program Specialist Lynn Walroth and Cultural Affairs Assistant Janet Thompson, visited żÃÛ¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½. The goal of their visit was to checkup on existing policies and discuss ideas for the future of the partnership.

Ruslan Rahimov, an żÃÛ¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ faculty member, associate professor, and candidate of historical sciences with a PhD from the School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences (EHESS - France), recently embarked on a research trip to Mexico.
